To our Open Door Family!
We hope all of you had a wonderful time ringing in the new year with family, friends, and loved ones! Or for some, a good night of sound sleep as the clock struck midnight.
On behalf of our staff, during this first week of 2019, I want to pray for two "greats" for us this new year week.
First, a great week of joy and thankfulness for 2018! May we look back and take to heart just how good and faithful God has been to us this past year -- every breath, every sunrise and sunset, every meal, every act of work and creation, every relationship and community, every expression of love, faith, hope in Jesus, and yes -- even every hardship and trial that God is using to refine us.
Second, I pray a great day of hope and faith for 2019! May we look forward to every opportunity and every calling that our Father has appointed for us this year! Behind 2019 is our Father who loves us without fail and who works all things to make us more like Christ (Romans 8:28). Paired with this prayer is the passage that we heard together from our New Year's Eve service ...
Psalm 90:12-17 A prayer of Moses the man of God. "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Relent, Lord! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."
Looking ahead at 2019 together,
Pastor John and our Staff
