The Challenge
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Building our home will be a journey of faith, especially in this economy. Some of you might be
wondering why we would choose to build now. The real question we should ask is: Can we
afford to wait?
Every year that passes is another year of growth, where more people are coming into an already
overextended facility. Every year that passes is another year where our children are squeezed into
already crammed rooms. Every year that passes is another year our vision is hampered by the
limitations of our facility.
Keep in mind that the initiative to build our home is a 3 year process. To wait any longer would
be to push us back 4, 5 maybe 6 years or more—during which time we would continually face all
the same problems we face now. Can we afford to wait?
God has given us a calling to be a grace filled, Gospel-centered church. The greatest work to
be done in this direction is obviously within our hearts. We need to become a Gospel-centered
people. But we also believe that we need the right kind of home where this vision can flourish.
The economy is struggling, but rather than hitch our fate to the rising and falling of the dollar, we
want to step out in faith and begin the process of building a home that will help us to maximize
our potential as a church.
We will plan responsibly and we will not build with what we do not have. But we believe that if
the vision is right, God will provide. Time and time again, God has done his greatest works in the
most difficult situations—whether it be Moses in the desert, David against Goliath, or Nehemiah
and the broken walls. Right vision always trumps bad circumstances.
We are asking you to step out in faith and be a vital part of building our house.
As a leader with strong commitments to ODPC, we hope that you see where our vision is taking
us, and that you will help lead the way by becoming one of our primary investors in our future.
The way you give—sacrificially, by faith, and with thanksgiving—will set the tone for the rest of
the church. The maxim is true: As the leaders go, so goes the rest of the church.
So will you help lead us into our future? May God stir in your heart a desire for greater things at
